The DreamQuest Solution - Part 1 - Introduction

My purpose in this series is to introduce you to the DreamQuest way of living a life of passion and fulfillment. I will share with you keys to discovering (or rediscovering) your passion, keys to actualizing your potential. If you will permit me, I will guide you in your personal DreamQuest.

Everyone is born with dreams. Dreams are what keep us from stagnating. It’s been said that “a rut is a grave with the ends kicked out.” Think about it. Isn’t it a type of death to be without a dream? Isn’t it true that a part of us dies when we loose sight of our dreams?

Before we dive into the DreamQuest way, let me list the foundational postulates of the DreamQuest Solution.

1. You are a unique creation and therefore, very special. There has never been one like you before and there will never be one like you ever again.

2. You have a unique purpose. Another person can do the same job that you do and it will be different, simple because they are not you.

3. You are capable and competent. Just like the whole of that huge oak tree is contained in a little acorn; I believe everything you need you already have. That does not mean that we don’t need to study and develop those gifts.

4. You have unlimited untapped potential for creative accomplishment.

5. From our childhood many people have been programmed not to dream. Langston Hughes said: “hold fast to dreams, for should dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly.”

6. I do not ascribe to the idea of competing against anyone but yourself.

7. I don’t believe you were put here to live up to anyone else’s expectations.

8. I believe you are here to find and fulfill your destiny.

We will revisit these suppositions through the course of this series. Take some time alone to reflect on these points and particularly what your beliefs are in each area. Ask yourself, “Have I been denying my true hearts desire?” Please, take your time and go deep.

Til next time…
Charles

Are You Satisfied? Really?

Are you satisfied with your performance and productivity?
How would you rate your communications skills (which by the way include listening)?
How good are you at resolving conflict, or do you avoid or ignore it hoping it will go away?

How committed to personal and professional growth are you, really?

If the answers to these questions are of no interest to you or you are satisfied with your answers, don’t waste any more of your valuable time.

If you are not satisfied with your answers, with your personal performance or that of your team, department or company; DreamQuest Coaching & Training can facilitate a process that can take you to the next level.

My name is Charles G. Eduardos, President of DreamQuest Coaching & Training. I am a Registered Corporate Coach (RCC) and RCC Instructor through the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches (WABC). DreamQuest Coaching & Training is dedicated to assisting you in your quest for excellence. We believe that you can have, you can achieve and you can be more than you ever imagined.

Every world champion has a coach. Coaching can make you a champion, too.

What is Coaching?
According to the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches, coaching is a relationship between a Coach and a willing individual inside or outside of an organization that is built on respect, safety, challenge and accountability. The purpose of the relationship is to motivate the Coachee to be "their absolute best and to achieve extraordinary results in performance and in living."
Imagine closing the door to your office for 30 to 45 minutes and having your own private coach right there in person or on your phone. In fact you can call your coach where ever you are in the world.

Consider what D.A. Benton has to say in "Secrets of A CEO Coach":

"If high achievers like Tiger Woods and Donald Trump have one (or more) for their jobs, why shouldn't you have one for yours? ...In today's competitive business market, having a personal coach is not a luxury, but a necessity."

Overcommitted?

Is your calendar packed? Is your schedule relentless? These are signs of a propensity to over-commit. Why do we crowd so much onto our to-do lists? Why are we constantly pressing to maintain such a maddening pace in our daily lives?

Researchers say, we believe we'll have more free time in the future. That rarely happens, and we hardly ever learn from the experience. Rather, we keep increasing commitments, and we stress out trying to keep them. Sound familiar? Don't feel bad. You are not alone.

Many of us have accepted invitations months in advance to speak at a meeting or conference ... serve on some board or committee ... or travel to give a presentation or workshop, only to regret our decision when the time arrived.

If these invitations had required immediate action, we would have said something like, “No, I'm too busy” or “Sorry, I’m booked up.” But when asked enough in advance, we imagine that we will be less busy in the future. Why do we do this to ourselves over and over again?"

The truth is everyone gets the same -- 24 hours -- every day, no matter how they use it. Time requirements are pretty consistent, but we often forget it. For the most part you will be just as busy 2 weeks or a month from now as you are today. But that is not how it appears to be in everyday life. When a commitment is a safe distance away -- say, two weeks or more -- we fool ourselves into thinking we can handle it. We don't learn from experience because when we over-commit and things go askew, we think it's a one-time problem, not a long-running pattern.
It's hard to change our overcommitted ways, and there may be times when it's worth maxing out your schedule. People regret that they allowed short-term limitations to keep them from taking life-changing actions. But if all you can win is momentary approval -- with little lasting meaning or satisfaction -- you might want to stop and think it over.

Need some more info? I have found The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey to be very helpful. The idea in a nutshell being that we define our values and our roles first and from these we determine what matters most in our lives.

Working with a coach is a great way to tame this menace of “over-commitment” also. Call for a free consultation.
